YARD OF THE MONTH  (Exciting new program in the neighborhood!)

This year, 2009, for the first time, Estates West Homeowners Associaiton will participate in Calloway Nurseries Yard of the Month program.  Judging will begin in May by a panel of your neighbors, and will continue in alternate months through October or November.  We are using only four months for this first year.  The winning household will display the Yard of the Month sign and be awarded a $25 gift certificate good at any Calloway Nursery store.

The judging will be based on overall beauty of the landscape plus originality of design.  The panel wil consist of Norine Wingate, Sharon Withrow and an optional judge chosen from the previous winning household.

Participation in the program will be completely voluntary and open to paid EWHA members only.  We hope that the competition will result in an even more beautiful neighborhood.  If you have any questions, please call or email Bob Hettler, VP Beautification at 972-385-8960 or rhettler1242@att.net

Preston Ridge Trail

Who would have believed that we could have made such a difference in just  one weekend.  On November 17, 2007,we planted approximately 275 addtional shrubs between La Manga and Arapaho along Meandering Way.).  We are gnow enjoying the fruits of our labor.

Be sure to thank those you see watering these shrubs throughout the next two years.  Without their commitment, we would not have these shrubs.  They have been planted for our enjoyment now and for generations to come.  We are so lucky to live in this neighborhood!  We will be watering until November of 2009.  Now that is taking on a lot, isn't it?

If you have any time at all to help us water, please let us know.  It is quite a commitment for our waterers as it takes at least 4 hours on a Saturday morning.  You might be able to relieve them one Saturday or maybe take over for a few hours.  We need all the help we can get.  Please contact Ann Murphy if you can help us.  972 233 4069 or anncmurphy@aol.com.   HELP!!!!!

Arapaho Strip
To those of you who contributed to the "WE CARE" project, (the very first financial support we received when we established our goal of beautifying the post and cable addition by the city) your plaque has been attached to one of the posts on the strip.  Take a drive down the alley and locate yours!  Take pride knowing you made the difference and made this possible. 

Street Toppers
We hope you are enjoying the street toppers that were installed in February 2004.  We think they are a beautiful addition to our community.

Neighborhood Entrance Signs
Well, we did it!  We now have our long-awaited neighborhood entrance signs, one at Arapaho and Spring Creek and the other at Meandering Way and La Manga.  Thank you to all our members.

Please take the time to go by and sit a spell at the corner of La Sobrina and Meandering Way.  Shade trees and shrubs have been added  to make it more beautiful and comfortable.  Take a look at our plaque also.  Your dues have made this happen.
